Lab work research & Design
Conducted research on how facility employees are putting in lab work requests and how the process can be simplified. Then with that information, created lo-fi wireframes and finally clickable prototypes to use in a usability study later on. After the usability study, redesigns were completed based on findings and responses.
Project Details

Why was this project conducted?
Research was done in order to understand the pain points of the current lab work request process where facility employees would need testing or lab work done for specific products. Weekly meetings with subject matter experts and business teams were held and cross-collaboration was done to better understand what specific fields and information is necessary in a lab work request form.
Once findings were uncovered through interviews, initial lo-fidelity wireframes were made to improve upon the current lab work request process. These were used in a usability study and then those findings informed decisions on what needed changed or added to the wireframes.
Once high-fidelity wireframes were made, these were then transformed into a prototype to test once more with employees. Once completed, the designs were presented to business and technology teams to build out and launch into facilities.
What was the impact?
The impact was that facility employees now had a more reliable, easier to use, and quicker process to submit a lab work request. This allowed employees to get requests in and continue doing other important daily tasks without taking up too much time and energy in trying to submit a form.

Project Timeline

Step 1: Interviews
Conducted interviews to understand what facility employees had to do to fill out a lab work request form and what their pain points were in the process.
Step 2: Wireframes/Prototypes
Designed low-fi wireframes based on the interviews. Then discussed with the business teams about changes to be made before turning the wireframes into more advanced clickable prototypes.
Step 3: Usability Study
Conducted a usability study using the wireframes to see if employees could complete the form without any struggle.
Step 4: Redesigns & Launch
Redesigned the wireframes based on some of the feedback and responses of the usability study. These were later updated by the technology team and updated for facility employees to use moving forward.
