Intranet Research

Conducted a usability study and tree test to determine how employees currently use the company intranet and compare vs other company intranets.

Project Details

Why was this project conducted?

Research was conducted to uncover how employees were navigating the current employee intranet. After initial findings were documented, a tree test was done to further cement where participants were trying to access certain categories.

Findings were presented to business teams so changes could be made moving forward to the new intranet that was in development.

What was the impact?

The impact was vital to the success of the new intranet that was in development. This research informed to business teams on where information and tools should be kept under which navigation header options.

Without this research, the new intranet would fail in being a user friendly and helpful tool for employees to access important information.

Project Timeline

Step 1: Baseline Usability Study

Conducted a usability study to determine how participants were navigating through the intranet.

Step 2: Findings

Created documents outlining which areas participants struggled with which informed how designs should be altered with the new intranet.

Step 3: Tree Test & Further Deliverables

Conducted a tree test to determine which paths employees were going down to complete a series of tasks. With this information, I created a findings and prioritization document to share with the business and technology team so items could be ranked and determined which were technologically feasible.
